The Western Baseball Association was founded in 1998 by Jeff Sewell and the organizations of the Barona Stars, San Diego Mavericks, and the San Diego Waves.  In their first year of existence the league joined the National Baseball Congress (NBC) as a premier league.   As the league progressed over the years the WBA have become one of the top summer collegiate leagues on the West Coast.   The league has three top three finishes at the NBC World Series  - 1999 (Stars), 2001 (Waves) and 2005 (Fire).  Also, the league has  another ten top 10 finishes - The Stars with five, Waves with three. Scorpions with one, and the Fire with one.  The WBA has had many players drafted and became MLB players including Adrian Gonzales, Kevin Correia, Sean O'Sullivan, Jeff Karstens, Marcus Giles and Mike Jacobs to name a few.  In 2015 three former WBA players were taken in the 1st Round - Dillon Tate (Grizzlies), Kevin Newman (Sklz) and Kyle Holder (Stars).
